Key Stage One 'Born In A Barn' 2009

Parents were thrilled when they came to see KS1 Christmas production. This year we staged a nativity play with a difference! Born In A Barn is based on the traditional Christmas story, but told from the point of view of the animals living in the barn.

Year 2 performed the roles of the farm animals, Year 1 became Innkeepers and Shepherds and Year R were beautiful guiding angels.

Everyone was very impressed with the way the children rose to the challenge of their roles, learning their lines and singing with much enthusiasm and enjoyment.
Children In Need 2009
Congratulations to all the children and parents, who supported our ‘Children in Need’ day. A grand total of £381.52 was raised from donations for wearing spotty clothes, the coin trail and all the fund raising that took part in classes.

Pied Piper Production - Year 5 and 6
Throughout the summer term all children in year 5 and 6 worked hard to rehearse there performance ' Just Call Me The Pied Piper'. The production involved almost 60 children on stage at different times and featured a lively mixture of acting, singing and dancing. All Year 6 pupils had the main speaking roles, but were well supported by the Year 5 children who were rats, mice or village children. The title role was played by Louise Grainger but there were many stars with all children playing their part and working well together to make the production a success. There were two afternoon and two evening performances during a busy week . 'Just Call Me The Pied Piper' was well received by parents, the school and the local community alike.

Chess Club News
With an average weekly attendance of twenty, the Chess Club has had another very successful and enjoyable year.
The Mega Final, is part of the National U.K. Chess Challenge and again was held at Tiverton High School on 13th June. Our entrants were Tristan, Poppy, Matthew, Sophie, Eleanor and Geoffrey. They all acquitted themselves very well, particularly Eleanor who with 4 points out of a possible 6 (and despite losing her first two games) was the winner of the girls under-10 section. Eleanor is now the Devon Girls Under-10 Champion. We wish her luck and equal determination in the U.K. Chess Challenge Southern Semi-Final next month at Wellington College, Berkshire. Eleanor was also the winner last term of our own Chess Tournament with 18 points out of 21 winning narrowly from Beth. She will receive the School Chess Champions cup.
Well done Chess Club!
Year 3/4 Production of Joseph's Coat of Many Colours - Spring 2009
April 2009 saw the first ever Year 3 and 4 production performed to the rest of the school and to parents, and what a show! There was lots of singing, dancing and great acting. The children of Year 4 worked extremely hard learning lines and actions to put on a fantastic show, supported by the singing and dancing from year 3.

There is no doubt that the children thoroughly enjoyed performing the show and from the reactions of the audiences, the performance was a fantastic success.
